Former Cowboys Star Dez Bryant Backs Brian Flores in Heated Twitter Rant: ‘A Lot of Janky S*** That Goes on in the League’

Brian Flores sent shockwaves throughout the league when he recently filed a lawsuit against the NFL, the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, and Denver Broncos. The former Dolphins head coach alleged discriminatory hiring practices and organized tanking in Miami.

Former Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver Dez Bryant has strong feelings about the situation and took to social media to air out some grievances.

In the days following the announcement that Brian Flores was suing the NFL, many former coaches and players have publicly supported the former Dolphins coach. Dez Bryant was one of those people.

The three-time Cowboys Pro Bowler delivered an explosive rant on Twitter, declaring his support for Flores.

“That s*** don’t surprise me,” said Bryant. “It’s a lot of janky s*** that goes on in the league, but hey man, it is what it is. All I know is, I love the game of football. I like to play a fair game of football. I ain’t ever in my life going to disrespect the game of football with some bulls***. That s*** over in Miami, that’s bulls***.”

Bryant gave the former Dolphins coach his complete backing because he feels the league has done him a disservice.

“I’m behind Brian Flores,” he added. “Yes, sir! Call their motherf******* a** out. It’s guys out here risking our lives each and every day to play the game that we love. But instead, we got to deal with the bulls*** politics of this game. Call them out Brian Flores, and I’m behind you 1,000%.”

The Cowboys legend also aired grievances about the end of his time in Dallas

Dez Bryant is clearly siding with Brian Flores in his fight against injustice in the NFL. He all but called out Dolphins owner Stephen Ross for his treatment of the former coach.

Bryant also took the opportunity to air grievances regarding what transpired toward the end of his tenure with the Dallas Cowboys.

“I just read that the owner of the Dolphins tried to offer Brian Flores $100K to tank the season,” said Bryant. “The year that I got cut [from the Cowboys], I told athletes, “Hey man, I feel like our season’s getting sabotaged. That’s just how I feel.”

The former All-Pro didn’t like how Jason Garrett ran the offense and suggests the scheme wasn’t one that a team wanting to win would use.

“There’s no way we should be running the same exact plays,” he added. “Why am I lining up in the same place each and every week like these guys on the other side not getting paid? There would be times in the game I know I’m one-on-one, and Dak [Prescott] don’t even look my way. So many times on film, that ball was not coming to me.”

Dez Bryant believes him speaking on his frustrations with the offense ultimately led to the Cowboys cutting ties with him.

What’s next for Flores and the NFL?

Respected names like Dez Bryant and Ron Rivera publicly supporting Brian Flores is a good look. However, the NFL has a long way to go before the coaching hiring process becomes fair and equitable.

Flores made some serious accusations against the Dolphins, Giants, and Broncos organizations. According to ESPN‘s Marcel Louis-Jacques, the former Dolphins head coach wants to accomplish several things with the lawsuit. Increasing the number of Black coordinators and increasing objectivity when hiring and firing are just a couple of the end goals.

After Miami let him go, Flores became one of the hottest coaching candidates on the market. Unfortunately, the 40-year-old coach didn’t like the direction the process was heading. He spoke out, and now there’s no turning back.

Flores was in contention for the vacancies with the Houston Texans and New Orleans Saints. It’s unclear how much the lawsuit would affect his chances, if at all. Still, it wouldn’t be surprising to see either team move in a different direction.

Brian Flores was willing to put his career on the line for what he believed in. If nothing else, he reminded the NFL how far it has to go to achieve equality and diversity.
